Sometimes it can be tricky to look expensive on a budget. However, if we can’t afford mid-range or expensive garments, there are some simple tips to look more expensive. I apply these every time I shop in fast fashion stores.
1. Opt for natural fabrics
Stay away from synthetic materials they tend to cheapen the appearance.
2. Pay attention to the buttons
Fast-fashion stores tend generally to provide buttons that cheapen the garment and by ripple effect decrease the look appearance. That’s why if you like the fit of a coat or a shirt with cheap buttons, change them for higher expensive looking buttons. On this beige blazer the buttons are matching the blazer which make them blend in very well and look more elegant. You can find more details about buttons and what to rather opt for when changing buttons on fast-fashion brands in this post.
3. Opt for a figure fitted cut or alternatively for a belted blazer for a more sophisticated look
Okay I got it these days, fashion is all about oversize clothes and masculine style. I don’t blame the oversize style and it can go along with elegance. I just think we can wear oversize garment to look elegant but this require us to stay away of the “too oversized” to the point you loose your arms in your blazer. The ideal way to opt for an oversized blazer and still look feminine is to close it with a belt.
And if you don’t go for the oversized style, just opt for figure fitted clothing that highlight your silhouette. There is nothing more flattering than that.
4. Adjust the garment to a tailor
If you never tried to adjust you clothing to your bodyshape, just try it. It will take your look to the next level without spending much. Most people of the high society have clothing adapted to their own size and this is what makes them look expensive. The beige wide leg trouser I am wearing is adjusted to my size at the wait and this makes it look way better than if it wasn’t
5. Pick neutral colors
Did you ever notice how classy neutral color tend to look? Mass market brand provide items that looks cheap in general due to the bad association between the color and the cheap fabric. However, this is not valid/applicable for neutral colors which tend to mainly look more expensive because we notice less they hide better the small details of the garment.
