How to wear the striped jumper?

A mariniere, or a striped jumper, is a French stripe design rooted in history, dating back over a century. Striped clothing were introduced as the official French Navy uniform in 1858. French stripes have since influenced fashion trends all over the world. Since then the mariniere has become a fashion staple and a timeless icon of French style.

A mariniere or striped jumper is a good piece to own in your wardrobe as it is quite classic and timeless. I like to wear it on days where I feel lazy to get dressed as it generally tends to have a cut a bit more on the looser side. This said it is also a good garment to wear as a home loungewear as it is more elegant than the basic sweatshirt. Here I am wearing a blue stripped jumper from Zara from the past collection but as it is a garment that always comes back throughout the season, I have linked a quite similar one. I have to say the quality of this Zara striped jumper is quite good.

Add a blazer to complete the look. Adding a blazer in a neutral color such as black, navy or grey is a perfect way to finish the outfit;
Alternatively, you can also wear the striped jumper as an accessory on your shoulders. A jumper on the shoulder always gives a nice final touch to your look.
