Wearing colours is an instant booster to your mind and self-confidence. This is the reason why you should definitely invest in garments in different colours. However, we do agree that not all colours will suit everybody.

Everyone wants to wear colours that are a “wow” and make you look chic, feminine and flattering. Some colours may look washed out on a skin tone and others may makes us look ill. This is exactly what we want to avoid. In order to avoid falling in this trap, you primarily need to know that everyone has a custom colour palette. If you don’t know your yet, it is time to define the tones that fit your skin tone and the ones that don’t.

This said, it can still happen as a woman to wear a colour that doesn’t necessarily match our skin tone. As an example, red, is a bold colour, that is extremely attractive but it doesn’t suit everyone. Although some colours might not match your skin tone, we may still want to wear these such as red and there are some ways to wear unflattering colours and still look beautiful. Here is what you should do regarding the garment’s type of the unflattering colour:

  • A trouser or a skirt

This can perfectly work even if the colour isn’t matching your skin tone. In this case, you avoid wearing the colour around your face and neck and rather keep it at your bottom level like I did here with this red palazzo trouser.

  • An outerwear, a jacket or a blazer

If the red garment is a coat, it will necessarily be close to your neckline and therefore you should put the focus on accessories. By simply adding a scarf in a suitable colour for your skin tone, you can hide the fact the outerwear you’re wearing is in a color that doesn’t match your skin tone.

  • A dress

A dress tend to take a lot of space on our body, that’s why if you wish to opt for such colour rather opt for a thin and delicate dress with a neckline such a the V-cut to makes it stay away from your face. Adding a large necklace is also a good alternative to draw the attention on your neck rather than on the dress colour.

  • A pair of shoes

The fact that a colour does not suit your neck, hair colour and face does not mean it is valid for your whole body. A nice pair of pumps could suit you even if it doesn’t blend well with your skin tone. However, take a look at the result to ensure the match between the colour of your ankles skin and the one of the shoes doesn’t make you look ill.
