We can finally let go in the coat department as winter is behind us and spring doesn’t require us to wear thick layers. It’s definitely the time to change our outerwear and let other garments take place in our wardrobe. Upgrading our look is all about wearing the right colours, matching the items well and wearing something that is figure fitted to our body shape. In this article, we will see really classic and good basics you need if you start a spring wardrobe from scratch. The items provided are really easy to style in an elegant way and do not require a lot of effort in terms of purchasing and assembling garments together.
Here are some good basics you must wear in spring to appear more elegant and expensive looking:
-
The trench coat
It comes in many variations but here I had only with me a simple black one and that’s an amazing piece of garment to own for spring. You can have it lighter colours regarding your skin tone and if well chosen a nice trench coat is taking a look to the next level. As always put more attention on the outerwear as it is for sure the item that takes most of the space on our body shape. What is amazing with it that it blends really well with any of the items of this list and many more. You can wear the trench coat whether it is on you blazer to finish the look on a dress or even a tweed coat. There are no limits with a trench coat if it is purchased in a cut that fits your body shape.

The tweed jacket
Here is a tweed jacket I got from Zara so many years ago and you guess what? The tweed really looks amazing even after years. I assume it was really a good item from Zara. A tweed jacket is definitely a nice jacket to own for spring it blends really easily with trousers or on top of a dress. It is versatile and is really an elegant item to purchase. The only detail you must check to get a quality one is the tweed itself.
It might not have fringes or any kind of wires that hang down because this is what makes tweed look cheap. Also have a look at the buttons in case they are cheap looking. If this is the case you can still get the coat and check in this post what to do to upgrade your look if the buttons of your garment are cheap looking.

The white trouser or the white jeans
I believe everything white is by excellence an elegant and expensive looking colour. It is feminine and looking more thoughful than the average jeans in case of denim. When you wear white you will see that you will stand out because most of the people out here are wearing dark colours.
-
A loose dress
Everywomen must have a little dress in her wardrobe that can be suitable for many occasion. This one I am wearing is a perfect example because it comes in black which can be easily paired with any pair of shoes and bags if you start from scratch. Also I like the loose fit because it tends to fit a lot of body shape and for the ones that must highlight their waist you can certainly add a nice belt to it to do the job.
-
The tailored trouser
Tailor trouser are a must if you are starting a wardrobe from scratch. It is definitely a pair of trouser you can wear everyday and feel your best. Make sure to purchase a straight leg cut or a pencil cut because I believe these are the most flattering shapes that exist out here. You can pair a tailor trouser with any tops, shirts or blouse and this will make a big difference to your overall look.
-
The white shirt
Get a nice cotton shirt because shirts are also a must to feel elegant if you start you wardrobe from scratch. You can get it in different colours, but I would advise to start with more basic colour such as white to have a good basis and then expand. A shirt might be fitted or at least not too far from your body shape to highlight your waist and be flattering. You don’t need to get first a designer shirt and rather get it some simple shops at reasonable price as long as the cut and the cotton appear as high quality.

The blazer
A nice blazer is really a must for everywomen nowadays because it is so easy to style and always makes you feel more classy. Here I feel you should rather consider buying one of higher quality in high-medium shops rather than in a mass market because if you invest in a neutral colour such as black the return on your investment will be hundred times better. Yes I feel we can find blazer in fast fashion shops nowadays but having purchased some of the models cannot be kept for years without showing a default at some point.
All the items provided today were in really neutral colours mainly black and white but you can definitely includes tones such as brown, camel and beige when starting from scratch. The idea is to get first really basic colours you can associate easily together. Starting with less is more is the best idea to feel elegant and feminine and obviously after you can expand your wardrobe with different colours. Be aware of the neutral colours that blend well with your skin tone and definitely go for these.

All the garments I am wearing are quite old so I attached similar ones from brand I know and that are providing high quality materials.
