The hourglass
Some general tips to look expensive as an hourglass silhouette are the following. This body shape with a marked waist has a really feminine and glamorous silhouette meaning that you should first avoid any bulky or layering clothes or low rise trousers because they will hide this waist. That’s why hourglass should mainly focus on showing their silhouette and waist. To do so, definitely opt for wrap dresses or any dress that will higlhight the waist. In the coat department, the most flattering one is certainly the belted coat that again underline the waist. For what concerns the trousers and skirt, you should always go for something high waisted as it will be more flattering for your body type.
The rectangle
The rectangle has a body with a lean column meaning that the waist is not so defined. This said you should avoid wearing figured fitted tops and wrap dress. The masculine type of clothing are also a big no. The most flattering clothes for the rectangle body type are clothing designed with the illusion of a waist. This means that anything pea plums tops or cinched waisted blazer are perfect to give the illusion that there is a waist. Skinny jeans are flattering for the rectangle and any clothing defined as straight as well. As the silhouette is not so feminine itself, you can definitely make your style more feminine by wearing some bows, shirts with ruffles or flower brooch as an example. These are really a great example of flattering clothes for the rectangle body shape.
The circle
The circle body shape often targets women after the menopause as the weight gain tend to appear around the waist. The most flattering cut for a rectangle body type is the straight cut. Just go for anything in a straight line, the coat, the dresses, the tunics, the blouse as they won’t highlight the fact that the waist is inexistant. The idea is to camouflage the waist zone. (This can be done with straight line clothing either tunics, blouses and straight coat.) Everything that does not have much structure and where the waist is not defined is adapted for the circle body shape generally.
The triangle
The triangle should always avoid highlighting their hips meaning that we don’t want to wear crossbody bags that stay on the hips, short jackets that ends on the hips or any light coloured bottoms that would draw the attention. Instead, we want to attract the attention on the upper body part. This can be done by wearing printed blouses, big necklaces and also the puff shoulders because it will balance the body proportions.
The inverted triangle
This body shape should draw the attention to her lower body part instead of her upper body part. To do this, we need to avoid any puff shoulders blazer and any bright colored or appealing accessories on the upper body part. Instead, opt for coloured items on the body lower part. The palazzo trousers and the voluminous skirts are definitely perfect bottoms for this body shape as it will balance the silhouette.
