There are several reasons why you might choose a wrapped belted winter coat. One of the biggest reason is the style because a belt always add a touch of style and sophistication to a winter coat. It mainly enhance the figure and create the illusion of a flattering shape.

How to wear it?

A wrapped belted coat is quite versatile in terms of use:

  • You can tighten the belt for a more dressy and classy night look as it highlights on the waist. It is the perfect coat to wear on top of a dress with a pair of heels for an evening out.
  • Instead, during the day you can wear it open for a more casual look.

In this look, I am wearing a wrapped belted long coat in a camel color because I do feel those neutrals are always a good choice and I paired it with a simple straight leg black leather trouser and a figure fitted black knitwear to keep me warm. It’s a quite simple black look and I feel the wrapped belted coat is making all the look which is why investing in outerwear is definitely one of the most important investment to make.

How to adapt it to your body shape?

Belted coat are fitting most body types and here are some tips on how to choose a coat that fit your body shape:

  • The hourglass figure and rectangle shape (H-shape) are the one that can really go for the wrapped belted coat because it will highlight or create the illusion of a waist which is ideal to flatter their shape.
  • The apple figure is more flattered when opting for a more loser approach to clothing especially around the mid-section. So if you like the wrapped belted coat opt for a long one you can rather wear open.
  • The pear figure should draw the attention rather on their bust and shoulders. This is why it is better for this body shape to opt for wide-neck coat. So if you still want to go for a wrapped belted coat it is better to rather opt for one with a wide-neck coat and wear it open.
  • The inverted triangle (V-shape) is a shape that has a highlight on the shoulders meaning that it is better to look for a coat balancing your figure by creating volume at the bottom, such as trapeze coats or belted A-line coats.
